Poland shares land borders with Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Russia — 7 neighbours in all. Its largest urban centres are Warsaw, Kraków and Łódź. The highest point in the country is Rysy, at 2,499 metres.
For scale, it covers almost exactly the same area as Oman, while its population is closest to that of Angola.

Poland: things worth knowing
- Poland disappeared from the map entirely between 1795 and 1918, partitioned between three empires.
- Białowieża Forest on the Belarusian border is one of the last remaining fragments of Europe's primeval lowland forest.
