Germany shares land borders with Denmark, Poland, Czechia, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Netherlands — 9 neighbours in all. Its largest urban centres are Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. The highest point in the country is Zugspitze, at 2,962 metres.
For scale, it covers almost exactly the same area as Congo, while its population is closest to that of Turkey.
