About Country Quiz

The country quiz is the hardest of the name-based games because it gives you no picture to lean on. You get a capital, a continent and a currency, and have to work backwards to the country. That is a genuinely different skill from recognising a flag: it tests whether the facts are connected in your memory or merely stored side by side.

The currency line is usually the most useful clue. West African CFA franc narrows the field to eight countries in one stroke; Central African CFA franc to six others. Learning which countries share a currency does more work here than memorising any individual capital.

If a round feels impossible, the gap is usually capitals rather than countries. Play the capital quiz on the same difficulty for a few rounds and come back.

Difficulty and scoring

Easy, Medium and Hard run thirty questions. Easy covers the countries most people can already name; Hard reaches the ones that need real study. A correct answer is worth 100 points, with a bonus for answering inside five seconds and further bonuses at three, five and ten in a row. A wrong answer scores nothing and resets the streak, but never ends the round.

Expert is different. It has no fixed length and no second chances: questions keep coming from the hardest pool until you get one wrong, and that ends the run immediately. Your result is how many you survived. The full scoring breakdown is on the about page.
