Kyrgyzstan is a country in Asia. Its capital city is Bishkek, the official currency is the Kyrgyzstani Som, and the main language is Kyrgyz.
With a population of roughly 6.7 million people spread over 199,951 km², Kyrgyzstan is the 106th most populous country in the world and the 85th largest by area. That works out at about 34 people per square kilometre.
Kyrgyzstan shares land borders with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China — 4 neighbours in all. Its largest urban centres are Bishkek, Osh and Jalal-Abad. The highest point in the country is Jengish Chokusu, at 7,439 metres.
For scale, it covers almost exactly the same area as Senegal, while its population is closest to that of Serbia.
