Tonga is a country in Oceania. Its capital city is Nuku'alofa, the official currency is the Paʻanga, and the main language is Tongan.
With a population of roughly 107,000 people spread over 747 km², Tonga is the 182nd most populous country in the world and the 175th largest by area. That works out at about 143 people per square kilometre.
Tonga has no land borders with any other country. Its largest urban centres are Nuku'alofa, Neiafu and Haveluloto. The highest point in the country is Kao, at 1,046 metres.
For scale, it covers almost exactly the same area as Dominica, while its population is closest to that of Seychelles.
