Samoa is a country in Oceania. Its capital city is Apia, the official currency is the Tālā, and the main language is Samoan.
With a population of roughly 220,000 people spread over 2,842 km², Samoa is the 176th most populous country in the world and the 167th largest by area. That works out at about 77 people per square kilometre.
Samoa has no land borders with any other country. Its largest urban centres are Apia, Vaitele and Faleula. The highest point in the country is Mount Silisili, at 1,858 metres.
For scale, it covers almost exactly the same area as Luxembourg, while its population is closest to that of Sao Tome and Principe.
