Brunei is a country in Asia. Its capital city is Bandar Seri Begawan, the official currency is the Brunei Dollar, and the main language is Malay.
With a population of roughly 450,000 people spread over 5,765 km², Brunei is the 169th most populous country in the world and the 164th largest by area. That works out at about 78 people per square kilometre.
Brunei shares land borders with Malaysia — its only land neighbour. Its largest urban centres are Bandar Seri Begawan, Kuala Belait and Seria. The highest point in the country is Bukit Pagon, at 1,850 metres.
For scale, it covers almost exactly the same area as Palestine, while its population is closest to that of Bahamas.
