Cyprus is a country in Asia. Its capital city is Nicosia, the official currency is the Euro, and the main language is Greek.
With a population of roughly 1.3 million people spread over 9,251 km², Cyprus is the 154th most populous country in the world and the 162nd largest by area. That works out at about 141 people per square kilometre.
Cyprus has no land borders with any other country. Its largest urban centres are Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca. The highest point in the country is Mount Olympus, at 1,952 metres.
For scale, it covers almost exactly the same area as Lebanon, while its population is closest to that of Mauritius.
