Cabo Verde is a country in Africa. Its capital city is Praia, the official currency is the Cape Verdean Escudo, and the main language is Portuguese.
With a population of roughly 600,000 people spread over 4,033 km², Cabo Verde is the 166th most populous country in the world and the 166th largest by area. That works out at about 149 people per square kilometre.
Cabo Verde has no land borders with any other country. Its largest urban centres are Praia, Mindelo and Santa Maria. The highest point in the country is Pico do Fogo, at 2,829 metres.
For scale, it covers almost exactly the same area as Trinidad and Tobago, while its population is closest to that of Montenegro.
