Chad shares land borders with Libya, Sudan, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger — 6 neighbours in all. Its largest urban centres are N'Djamena, Moundou and Sarh. The highest point in the country is Emi Koussi, at 3,445 metres.
For scale, it covers almost exactly the same area as Peru, while its population is closest to that of Ecuador.
