About Landlocked Countries: Africa

Africa has sixteen landlocked countries, the largest concentration on Earth, running from the Sahel — Mali, Niger, Chad, Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic — down through South Sudan and Ethiopia to a cluster in Central and Southern Africa: Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini.

Ethiopia is the largest population anywhere in the world without a coastline. It lost its own coast when Eritrea became independent in 1993, and its trade has depended on the port of Djibouti ever since.

Lesotho is entirely enclosed by South Africa — one of only three such enclaves in the world, alongside Vatican City and San Marino inside Italy.

Scoring

Your score is how many of the 16 landlocked countries you click before you make a mistake. There is no timer and no difficulty to choose — every country in Africa is on screen from the start, and the round ends the instant you click one with a coastline.
